Andhra Pradesh has a long cultural and political history. His political history dates back to the Mauryan period when the Sathavahanas carved out an Empire in the region. Cultural monuments and temples are a representation of its magnificent past. The East whipped through the Bay of Bengal, the country has low hills, green meadows, forests, waterfalls and lakes. Hyderabad is the capital.
How to reach: connected by air, rail and road with all major centers of the country.
Climate: April-May is tough summer. The monsoon begins in early June and lasts a few months. Rest of the year, the climate is pleasant.
Spotlight: Pearls and handicraft items like glass bangles are available for a bargain price, especially in the shopping centers of Char Minar in Hyderabad.
Cuisine: Hyderabadi cuisine has a Mughalai taste. The Hyderabadi biriyani is a good meal. Andhra food is different, though rice is the staple food throughout the state with sambar, a lentil preparation. Chillies dominate the taste. Andhra cucumber is known. Dosa (a rice pancake) is a common position for the breakfast. Andhra cuisine is largely vegetarian, unlike the Hyderabadi food. Seafood such as fish and shrimp made with rice in the coastal areas. Snack time is vada or idli with sambar. Idli is steamed rice dumplings.
