It's about trying to escape. My first flight was great, Namibia, adjusted in search of wild elephants and desert are the elusive answer to the Off-heard cry of "what is it?". I did not find an answer (more questions), but I did discover a love to explore, to pack bag and fly solo to be anonymous in unusual places. Since that first trip to Africa, I have traveled to the Middle East, Asia, Eastern and Western Europe. The idea of conventional and work in an office for the rest of my life still makes me go a little cold, so I like a sparrow and walk when I can. When my wings are tied, I need to escape the English countryside. I've always been a voracious journal-keeper, on my first trip, a good friend bought me a moleskine my desert experience in. Many escapes and record a few blogs later, a good magazine is still my ideal travel companion. But I love the wild places, city streets back, Eastern European trains, wildlife viewing, excursions on foot and lost forever. I like to find small pieces of eccentricity, whimsy and magic. The small random things seen things out of the corner of my eye, ignore other people's belongings. I do not think that alone as a woman should be a cause for concern - in fact 99% of the time I found it incredibly liberating. Solo travelers, you can see a new country in a very different way, not by the person with influence - and, quite independently is intoxicating!
